When planning a superloo layout for commercial washrooms, airport lounges, hotel lobbies, or entertainment venues, many design options are available to enhance functionality and user experience.

A space efficient layout option is the rear wall superloo design, where all washroom fittings are aligned along the same wall as the WC pan.

Watch our video about the details you need to know when designing a rear wall superloo design.

The types of washroom fittings needed for a complete superloo layout are:

Additional washroom accessories like a sanitary bin, robe hook, and toilet brush set can add those finishing touches to complete the design.

Superloo dimensions

The minimum recommended dimensions for a rear wall superloo design are a width of 1185mm and a length of 1800mm.

These measurements allow ample room for the WC pan, a compact vanity, the required column of clearance, activity space, a duct for a concealed cistern, and for the door to open inwards comfortably.

However, larger superloos offer greater flexibility in design and enhanced user comfort. If space permits, opting for more spacious rear wall superloo cubicles is highly recommended.

Superloo design considerations

Washroom design involves specific considerations that must account for maintenance, user experience, and the selection of appropriate products.

Some design rear wall superloo design considerations include:

  • Choosing a manual, pneumatic, or electronic flush cistern
  • Noise insulation between the superloos
  • Air conditioning
  • Light switches or motion sensors
  • Manual or touch free washroom products
  • Behind mirror system or separate fittings

Types of Superloo layouts

While the rear wall superloo layout offers many advantages, it is not suitable for ambulant superloo toilets due to the dimension and layout requirement for grab rails.

Another popular superloo layout is placing the basin or wash trough on the side wall rather than the rear wall, though this option is typically driven by design preferences.

From recessed washroom fittings that maximise space to innovative design strategies that create the illusion of space, each element can be strategically placed to achieve an optimal balance between practicality and comfort.
