Designing a wheelchair accessible washroom or ambulant toilet goes beyond simply meeting legal requirements—it is about creating a washroom that is safe, functional, and easy to use for all individuals.

Designers must not only choose compliant architectural ironmongery door handles but also ensure that disabled toilet handles and pull bars are correctly positioned and easy to operate. These washroom fittings should require minimal effort, allowing for single-handed use and accommodating individuals with limited arm strength, ultimately creating a smooth and accessible user experience.

Dolphin supplies commercial washroom products for a comprehensive commercial washroom fit-out, including commercial door hardware, and in this article, we will explore the essential accessible toilet door hardware dimensions architects need to know when designing an ambulant cubicle and wheelchair-friendly accessible washroom.
