Nestled in the heart of the London Borough of Westminster, 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens stands as a Grade II listed architectural gem.
This seven-story landmark seamlessly blends the building’s historic charm with modern design, featuring reclaimed materials, green roofs, and photovoltaic panels to align with ambitious sustainability targets, including BREEAM and FitWel accreditations.
A key tenant, the Westminster Foundation, will use the space to advance its mission of empowering children and young people, creating an inspiring coworking hub that amplifies social impact.
The 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens washroom project was designed to reflect the building’s commitment to sustainability, accessibility, and high-quality design, incorporating eco-friendly materials, energy-efficient fixtures, and inclusive features to create a welcoming and functional commercial washroom for all users.
Washroom project brief
The 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens washroom project, initiated in February 2022 and completed in January 2023, showcased a collaborative effort between Dolphin Solutions and Barr Gazetas Architects.
The architects were highly supportive of Dolphin’s offerings and approved our range of washroom products and matching finishes for their client.
Dolphin successfully presented the proposed washroom solutions to the main contractors, Red Construction, earning their confidence and commitment.
Washroom project challenge
The client had very specific requirements for special finishes, particularly favouring Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD).
While they also considered Powder Coating, achieving the desired champagne colour within a wide enough product range proved unfeasible.
The champagne finish on their commercial taps needed to be matched as closely as possible. While PVD Bronze and Rose Gold were evaluated, the Ceramic Aged Bronze finish emerged as the preferred choice due to its availability across a broader washroom fittings range.
The Dolphin Solution
One of the notable challenges of the 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens washroom project was addressing the client’s preference for PVD finishes.
For instance, the Robe Hook BC725 was initially specified with PVD. However, since PVD was not available, Dolphin proposed alternatives: first Powder Coating (PC) and subsequently Ceramic finishes. The Ceramic coating option met the client’s aesthetic and functional expectations.
Additionally, we provided a comprehensive Doc M pack in the Ceramic Aged Bronze finish, aligning with the project’s overarching design goals.
Another key design element that was successfully achieved involved the toilet pans and cisterns, where Dolphin offered alternatives that matched the Ceramic Aged Bronze finish.
The washroom project result
The 8-10 Grosvenor Gardens washroom project was successfully completed in 2023. Following the installation, Dolphin’s post-installation maintenance team engaged with the client to provide ongoing support under S3 By Dolphin, ensuring long-term satisfaction with the delivered washroom solutions.
